Zhiyao Wang
Profile
Zhiyao Wang is a second-year PhD student in Information Systems at The University of Osaka, Japan. He previously completed a Master’s degree in Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne.
Research Abstract
His work sits at the intersection of software engineering, LLM agents, and inclusion. He develops methods to improve user experience and accessibility by:
- mining post-deployment app reviews to identify bugs and implicit user needs;
- analyzing Android app structures and data flows to generate clearer, more neutral permission explanations using LLMs, especially for users with lower technical literacy.
During this visit, the project direction focuses on extending these methods toward tech for social good, exploring how Generative AI, VR, and AR can be designed to reduce inequality and improve accessibility for underrepresented communities.
Current Progress
- Transitioning prior work on software reliability and requirements engineering toward inclusive human-centered applications.
- Preparing a collaborative visit plan with the Opportunity Tech Lab, Monash University.
- Developing research ideas on inclusive interaction design using GenAI-enabled systems.
Supervision
- Primary supervisor: Dr Wei Wang
- Lab host: Professor Hartel (Opportunity Tech Lab, Monash University)
- External supervision: University of Osaka team
Contact / Collaboration Notes
Research interests include inclusion, accessibility, AI agents, and responsible interaction design for vulnerable and underserved communities.
