Khang Tieu and Yi Lai

1

Profile

Khang Chi Tieu and Yi Fei Lai completed a Monash Faculty of Engineering Industry Experience placement with Dr Wei Wang.

Their placement ran from 24 November 2025 to 13 February 2026, with 115 required hours each.

2

Project focus

The students worked on a wayfinding prototype connected to research on navigation support for people with cognitive impairments and their supporters.

The prototype explored how an app could help people understand routes, use clearer navigation information, and support safer movement in everyday places.

Contributions

The students prepared and demonstrated the integrated prototype during a Wayfinding Internship progress meeting on 16 February 2026.

They documented the project and shared project files, a README, and a demo video so the work could be reviewed and continued.

  • Built and integrated prototype features.
  • Presented the current app and its limitations.
  • Suggested possible future directions for the prototype.

Supervision

Host supervisor: Dr Wei Wang.

  • The work connected with the broader wayfinding research program led with collaborators including Dr Anuradha Madugalla and Professor Charmine Härtel.
  • Khang later expressed interest in contributing to follow-on accessibility and consent technology work.
